Karandaaz published a white paper on Open Banking in Pakistan, Karandaaz Open Banking White Paper, elucidating possible models for implementation. Following this, a round table discussion was organized with industry participants to deliberate on the most viable model for implementation of Payment Initiation in Pakistan. The opening of the event was undertaken by Mr. Sohail Javaad (Executive Director DFS department) from SBP and the team working on Opening Banking at SBP also provided inputs based on their work throughout the session.

At the roundtable, the participants were divided into discussion groups debating the pros and cons of different models and the relative advantages and disadvantages of centralized and decentralized models. Each group had representation from a bank, regulator, PISP and other supporting business models.
