Response To Queries – RFP-93 Hardware for STR Migration

Please find below the response to the Queries received for RFP-93 “Hardware for STR Migration.”

The Windows Server license requirement is based on number of CPUs in the server and number of cores per CPU, and there is a minimum requirement as well. The Microsoft Windows Server licensing requirements are as follows:

Licensing Requirements:

• All physical cores in the Server must be licensed (Hyperthreading (SMT) does not count as actual physical cores)
• A minimum of 8 cores must be licensed for each processor
• A minimum of 16 cores must be licensed for each Server

We have asked for 2 CPUs with 4 cores per CPU, as per this requirement we need to license minimum 16 cores of Windows Server OS, Standard edition. The same can be verified from various license calculators available online. Please see below snapshot just for example.
