Karandaaz Digital envisages an enabling environment for the promotion of digital financial services in Pakistan. Karandaaz identifies critical regulatory gaps, challenges and barriers restricting digital financial inclusion and conducts research to inform deliberations on addressing those barriers. Karandaaz Digital has representation in the technical committees formed under the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS) by the SBP. The committees address technical issues and propose solutions to achieve specific NFIS objectives. Karandaaz is part of the sub committees focused on payment systems, SME finance, and agriculture and housing finance.
Karandaaz has signed an agreement with State Bank of Pakistan under which Karandaaz is supporting State Bank and providing technical assistance for formulating legal and regulatory framework including licensing criteria for digital banks in Pakistan. This will help create an enabling environment based on international best practices for digital banks and improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and fairness of the banking system through strengthening and streamlining the regulatory and supervisory framework.
