Position Summary

Karandaaz is seeking an Associate Credit in the Corporate Investment & Credit team who will be primarily responsible for supporting the Principal Credit in developing innovative credit transaction structures for SMEs that can be replicated as a program. The incumbent will also be responsible to lead the detailed industry analysis for key target industries.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative credit transaction models to enable access to finance small and mid-sized enterprises
  • Assess the credit risk of the deals to identify bankable transactions
  • Originate, evaluate and execute credit transactions (wholesale credit lines, supply chain financing, program lending, securitized products) to provide growth capital funding to small and mid-sized enterprises with potential for profitable growth and sustainable job creation
  • Lead detailed industry analysis (market size and growth, industry structure and value chain, competitive landscape, etc.) for key target industries
  • Monitor, track and manage portfolio performance and liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including partner financial institutions
  • Under supervision of the Principal Credit, manage and lead transaction teams
  • Prepare Investment Committee documentation

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in investment banking, structured finance and/or commercial banking
  • Experience in originating and executing corporate finance and/or loan products. Prior exposure to SME lending will be valued
  • Professional exposure to the development of financial products for SMEs
  • Self-starter, motivated to build a high impact investment business for SMEs in Pakistan
  • Strong command of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, oral and written English and conversant in Urdu
  • Preferably a Masters level degree in business, economics, accounting or related discipline from a reputable international or Pakistani institution
