Karandaaz Capital aims to support the development of a market for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) financing by deepening access to growth capital for MSMEs that will result in the generation of broad-based employment in Pakistan and financial returns for Karandaaz. We make investments that are categorized into three buckets: Private Equity Investments, innovative Debt Financing pilots of SMEs, and Investment in Strategic Financial Platforms that spur development of financial market for MSMEs in Pakistan.

Position Summary:

Karandaaz Pakistan is seeking a Senior Analyst Strategic Equity Investment who will be responsible to create financial models, analyze historical and projected financial statements, participate in commercial and financial due diligence, assessment of potential investment opportunities, and monitoring of portfolio companies. The individual will be a member of the Corporate Investment and Credit (CIC) Team reporting to the Senior Associate/Associate and will provide support in management of private equity investments undertaken by the investment team.

Job Responsibilities

Origination

  • Identify and evaluate potential new private equity investments in a wide variety of sectors
  • Track and manage pipeline of new potential private equity investments

Evaluation

  • Develop detailed financial models and projections to enable and support investment decision making
  • Assist in performing due diligence for investment opportunities, including thorough review of industry and company details, and evaluating the overall merits and risks, valuation, return profiles on companies across sectors
  • Communicate analysis of private equity investment opportunities, results, and recommendations via reports and presentations, including preparing qualitative and quantitative assessments, memoranda, and spreadsheets.
  • Prepare high quality submissions for the Investment Committee including memoranda and financial models

Portfolio Monitoring & Execution

  • Monitor the performance of portfolio companies including performance vis-a-vis business plan, and KPIs
  • Assist in execution of transaction documentation and closing action items
  • Work alongside investment professionals serving on portfolio company Boards on specific strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with Finance and Monitoring & Evaluation to track, monitor and evaluate portfolio performance and generate impact assessment reports
  • Prepare documentation for Karandaaz’s internal processes including creating and maintaining annual work plans and support in internal and external audits
  • Any other task as may be required

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree, specialization in finance/economics/business preferred including CFA
  • Minimum 3 years of experience at a brokerage firm, advisory firm, private equity fund, DFI, investment bank, or investment team of a company
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound business judgment to identify issues and present creative and practical solutions
  • Ability to work across streams and manage tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Strong client service orientation with an openness to feedback and new ideas
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Interest in development issues and working in emerging markets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong coordination and interpersonal skills required
